2021 - GIC awarded $850,000 Rural Work Force Housing grant.
2020 - Housing project on new Avenue J cul-de-sac completes five of six new homes.
2019 - Gothenburg Improvement Company purchased the Baldwin facility in March after the company moved operations to Kearney. Curbtender Inc., headquartered in Cedar Falls, Iowa, took ownership of the building in October and began manufacturing garbage trucks.
Gothenburg earns All-America City designation from the National Civic League, an effort spearheaded by GIC.
Also in 2019, Gothenburg Early Childhood Learning Coalition hired a community coordinator to facilitate the organization's projects and educate the public. GECLC was formed following many conversations in GIC.
2018 - Gothenburg city voters approved by a 7:1 margin a new economic development plan (LB840) to broaden the uses of the existing 1/2 percent sales tax. The community also reached the $4.95 million fundraising goal for the YMCA at Gothenburg Health, which opened in April.
2016 - Supported the rebranding of Gothenburg Health (from Gothenburg Memorial Hospital) and the development of a new website (gothenburghealth.org) / Supported a $4M Capital Campaign to build "The Center" (Wellness Center) / Supported the creation of the Gothenburg Early Childhood Learning Coalition and the creation of "Swede Academy" School-Based Preschool
