Gothenburg Improvement Company presented three economic development awards and recognized two out-going board members during the annual GIC & Chamber Awards on Feb. 19.

GIC recognized two individuals and one business who have contributed to the economic devel­opment of Gothenburg. Scott Stevens was awarded for the dedication and commitment he has displayed in constructing quality housing through his business Fourteen Haus LLC to help address the shortage in Gothenburg. Housing Coordinator Robyn Geiser shared that she relies on Stevens for his advice and expertise, and he is always willing to help even on projects that aren't his. 

Local attorney and former GIC board member Colten Venticher was honored for economic development for his tireless efforts and work behind the scenes on the city's housing projects and drive he put behind making the Impact Center a reality. 

And Joe & Liz Franssen, owners of Ace Hardware, received the economic development entrepreneurship award. The store will celebrate its first anniversary in Gothenburg the end of March. 

In addition, out-going board members Karl Randecker and Rick Zarek were honored for their dedication and service to the GIC board and the community.
